Kiwanis Agenda (Pre-Convent​ion)

Thursday, August 3rd @ McMElegante Hotel

9:30 am - 5:30 pm - Registration and delegate check-in open all day at McMElegante Hotel, the host hotel.


9:00 AM - NOON – Lt. Governor Training. Location: Acapulco


10:00 am - 4:00 pm - Growth Summit: Learn how to actively grow your club. KI President-Elect Jim Rochford will be conducting part of the training too. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how to grow your club! Cost (include materials and lunch). $20.00


1:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Past Lt. Governors Association Meeting. Location: Atrium


3:00 pm - 5:00 pm - I-LEAD Club Leadership: President and Secretary Training (No Charge).


11:30 am - 1:00 pm - Past Governor Luncheon (by invitation only).


5:30 pm - 7:00 pm - Welcome Reception. All are welcome. Light appetizers, live music and cash bar available. Reception will be located at the hotel in the open side area atrium. No cost.


7:30 pm - District Board Dinner hosted by Governor John (by invitation only).

Friday, August 4th @ Abilene Convention Center

7:00 am - 5:30 pm - Registration and delegate check-in open all day at Abilene Convention Center.


7:30 am - All Kiwanis Breakfast: Hosted by Past-Lieutenant Governor’s Association. Celebrate our leadership in action.  $11.00


7:30 am - 5:00 pm - Vendor booths open at Abilene Convention Center. 


9:00 am - 4:00 pm Spouses Day Out: "A Taste of the Friendly Frontier." Enjoy a fun-filled day in Abilene, Texas visiting local attractions and sampling various foods from local chefs with an optional wine tasting (additional cost). Leaving from the convention center 9 am. Transportation provided. $45


9:00 am - Opening Session with guest speaker.


11:00 - 11:30 am - Project Eliminate Walk – NEW TIME THIS YEAR!

Eliminate Walk will be an indoor-short walk, directly after Opening Session. There will be one patch per club provided. One Vaccine = One Life Saved! Save 5 Lives - $9 OR Save 10 Lives - $18 


12:15 pm - All Kiwanis Luncheon: A time of excitement as we come together to kick-off convention after opening session and Eliminate Walk. Hosted by the TX-OK Foundation. A time of recognition and celebration. There will be a guest speaker. $18.00


2:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Service Fair: Come and share your Kiwanis Service Projects with other members. If you want a table at the service fair only (not a vendor table) please e-mail ccurtiscarr.kiwanis@gmail.com.

5:45 PM – 6:45 PM – Lt. Governor and Trustee Social with District Leadership (private event with Lt. Governor's and Trustees).


Family Fun Night! Let’s all go to the Abilene Zoo: A private event with West Texas BBQ, an up close look at the wondrous animals, giraffe feedings, live music, a mini-train ride for kids and adults, and lots of old fashioned fun. Children under 3 are free. Doors open at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at 7:30 PM. Price: $20.00; (Ages 3-10 Price $15.00.) Transportation provided to Abilene Zoo and back to host hotel.

7:00 am - Noon - Registration and delegate check-in open all day at Abilene Convention Center. 


7:30 am - 4:00 pm - Vendor booths open at Abilene Convention Center. 


7:30 am - Prayer Breakfast: A time of reflection and joy as we give thanks for all we have to be grateful for as Kiwanians. The Layperson of the Year will also be honored. There will be a guest speaker. $11.00


8:30 am - Memorial Service to remember those who have passed this Kiwanis year. Lt. Governors and Trustees will need to be ready to participate by 8 am if not attending the Prayer Breakfast.  To submit a name for the Memorial Service please complete this form: DCON Memorial Service Form. 


10:00 AM – 10:50 AM – Regional Kiwanis Meetings, led by Trustees and Lt. Governors. All members should go to their region. A list of Divisions within each region will be provided at Convention in the Program. 


11:30 am - All Kiwanis Luncheon: A time when we come together for fellowship, network and learn more about what is going on in the Kiwanis Family. There will be a guest speaker. $18.00


1:00 pm – 1:50 pm – Forums (limited number of sessions, upstairs classrooms).


2:15 pm – 5:15 pm – General/Delegate Session 


7:30 pm - Governor’s Banquet: A celebration evening where we look toward our 2017-2018 Kiwanis-Family future. There will be a guest speaker. A movie room will be provided upstairs for children during the banquet. No dinner provided for kids on Saturday night unless purchased through Governor's Banquet. $25.00

Kiwanis Children's Agenda

We are partnering with our Boys and Girls Club of Abilene. The Executive Director is a Kiwanian and is working to provide a fun and interactive children's curriculum at 2017 DCON. After all...Abilene is the "Storybook Capital of Texas." All CHILDREN MUST be potty-trained. The Lee Club is reserved for Kiwanis children’s event. All meals during the Children’s Program are included in price. (Does not include meals during Kiwanis agenda or Family Fun Night). If adults wish to accompany their children, they must pay for their own entrance fees and expenses as they wish. Wrist bands, entrance to activities, box lunches, snacks, waters, juice, prizes, etc. will be provided as part of children’s registration cost. Schedule is subject to change and additional details will be provided closer to event for those who register children. 

Price: $25.00 for one day or $45 for both days 

Friday, August 4th

You may drop off your child at Lee Boys and Girls Club located at 4610 North 10th St. as early as 7:00 am. You will need to pick him/her up by 5:30 pm before the Family Fun Night at the Abilene Zoo.

Saturday, August 5th

You may drop off your child at Lee Boys and Girls Club located at 4610 North 10th St. as early as 7:00 am. You will need to pick him/her up by 5:30 pm.
